FAQs

Many of these questions are answered at the main 501st Legion website (www.501st.com), but to save you some time, here are answers to the most commonly asked questions:

Disclaimer: this blog is privately run by a member of the 501st Legion in good standing and is not officially related to, or connected with, the 501st Legion, the world's most definitive Star Wars costuming organization. The purpose of this blog is to share pictures with the public and 501st Legion members of events in which the 501st Legion has participated. All pictures on this site are copyright free, and free to download and share with friends and family.

Q: Are you some sort of Star Wars club? Where do you come from?
A: We are members of the 501st Legion, a global Star Wars costuming organization, founded by Albin Johnson. Members create movie-accurate Star Wars costumes, and participate in all kinds of events, primarily fund raising, charity and social-awareness events. There are over 4,000 members around the world, designated by garrisons, and further designated by squads. Most of these pictures of the site are from the Florida Garrison (LINK to Florida Garrison homepage)

Q: What do you charge for appearances?
A: Members do not charge for appearances. All of us do this for free, on our own time. The one thing we all have in common, besides a love of Star Wars, is a desire to help people, and make our communities a better place to live. We also get to have fun doing it!

Q: Do you do birthday parties?
A: Occasionally, although most of the events we participate in are public events. For events like birthday parties it is requested that a donation be made to a worthy cause in the name of the 501st Legion. The main website has a list of the more popular charities for donations

The best way to arrange an appearance of the 501st Legion to your event is to make contact with a member, who will obtain information about your event. That member puts the information on the members-only message boards, and members who are able to participate will sign up. Since we are all volunteers and do this for fun, and we all have day jobs, the best time for an event is on the weekend. Participation is influenced by members' schedules, and other events that may be taking place at the same time.
